The Business Development Manager will primarily assist the business sales growth by locating, developing, defining, negotiating, and closing sales for the company. The role will be primarily focused on selling the company’s ISP, Networking, Wi-Fi, Security Software and General Software products and Services in New Zealand, while also managing a number of existing accounts.

You’ll be tasked with developing business and selling technology into the hotel / hospitality sector. You will require strong prospecting skills to identify potential customers, understand who you should be speaking with and the decision makers and set up appointments where you will have planned your approach and pitch and proactively develop proposals before of after the meeting.

Developing rapport and building relationships with be second nature to you. You will spend 50% of your time account managing your customers , ensuring they are taken care off and the accounts are growing.

Integrity and reliability are key to this role and doing what you say you will do is a must.

Ideal candidate profile: Sold software or ISP services into the hotel and hospitality sector.

Business Development Job Skills

  • Locates or proposes potential business deals by contacting potential partners; discovering and exploring opportunities.
  • Prospecting for potential new clients and turn this into increased business.
  • Cold call as appropriate within your market area to ensure a robust pipeline of opportunities. Meet potential clients by growing, maintaining, and leveraging your network.
  • Identify potential clients, and the decision makers within the client organization.
  • Research and build relationships with new clients.
  • Set up meetings between client decision makers.
  • Plan approaches and pitches. Work with team to develop proposals that speaks to the client’s needs, concerns, and objectives.
  • Participate in pricing the solution/service.
  • Handle objections by clarifying, emphasizing agreements and working through differences to a positive conclusion. Use a variety of styles to persuade or negotiate appropriately.
  • Present an image that mirrors that of the client.

General Job Requirements

The Business Development Manager will be required to perform other duties over and above core development responsibilities. This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Management of technical team against client requirements.
  • Input into the strategic planning of the business.
  • General office operational activities
  • Keeping the workplace and computer room tidy
  • Taking care of general office functions.
  • Other duties as requests by the management team.

  • Ability to work within a team environment. Evidence of this would be prior experience of having been part of a successful team.
  • Good communication skills. Evidence of this would be successful publications, production of well written proposals/reports etc.
  • A commitment to high quality services, and to high ethical standards.
  • Good time management skills. Evidence of this would be the ability to complete assigned tasks on time.
