    The roleAn established business with a well defined, specialist focus on a fast growing, profitable area of industry, this London based Industrial / Commercial Property consultancy has seen their business continue to grow throughout, and following lockdown due to increasing demand for their services, and rapid growth in the sector. Providing, management, agency, development and valuation services to lenders, investors and occupier clients as well as Project & cost management, and building consultancy support, the business is a one stop shop for commercial and industrial clients across London and the East. Having recently recruited a new head of building surveying, the building consultancy department are continuing to grow to meet demands and are looking for a motivated junior building surveyor, on the way through their APC pathway to pursue an interesting, alternative area of property that will be a breathe of fresh air for those currently stuck in a housing or council focused role currently. You will be part of a team of 4 building surveyors, a Director, Associate, Senior and APC building surveyor, and will assist, and develop to work independently on technical and project focused building survey work, including:Building Surveys, condition reportsSpecific Defect DiagnosisProducing SpecificationsContract Administration (Traditional JCT Suite)Technical due diligenceSchedules of Dilapidation ( on behalf of landlords & tenants) The rewardsThis role is an excellent opportunity to increase your knowledge and develop your skills as a building surveyor, with an experienced team of chartered professionals and a wide range of consistent work for clients on mixed portfolios, you'll get the exposure to everything you will need to keep you learning, prepare you for your APC, and secure attractive billing / performance bonuses.The salary for the position is bench-marked at £30 - 35K but their is flexibility depending on level of experience and fit for the position. The head of building consultancy will take a hands on approach with your APC and the business offers a structured APC support programme to give you the best chance at becoming a chartered building surveyor. You will receive a discretionary biannual performance related bonus and will be able to claim back business mileage at 45p per mile.The company offers a pension of 8% (5% employee and 3% employer contribution)You will also receive 25 days of annual leave each year in addition to the 8 annual UK public holidays.The team is a friendly and collaborative one, who welcome new hires as well as supporting and encouraging them to grow with them. The requirementsIn order to succeed in this role, you will need to have a minimum of two years experience as a building surveyor, preferably from a consultancy background, although those from public sector or client side positions won't be discounted.You will be APC enrolled and hold an RICS accredited degree in Building Surveying, as you will need the theoretical / technical understanding of material composition, construction techniques, common defects, as well as some practical knowledge on contract administration, specification writing and full structural building surveys.Your work will take you across East London, into Essex, Hertfordshire and surrounding areas and therefore you will need to be a full UK driver's license holder, with no driving disqualifications, and have access to a vehicle at short notice.AS this role will be a client facing one, it is essential that you can come across as confident and professional. You will need to be articulate, both verbally and in writing. Organisation skills and attention to detail are other key skills for this role.
