Laboratory Technician (Aerosol Physics)

For a temporary assignment at 100%

A key objective of Philip Morris International Inc. (PMI RRP) is to develop and assess products with the potential to reduce the risks of smoking-related diseases. This project is at the core of our business: our aim is that one day all adult smokers who otherwise wouldn’t quit will switch to what we call reduced-risk products, or RRPs.
The Aerosol Physics team, part of Aerosol Research group at Philip Morris Products SA in Neuchâtel, supports PMI‘s core business objectives. The team, is currently looking for a temporary junior Laboratory Technician (preferably in Chemistry) to support daily work activities. The role of the chosen candidate will be to perform experimental work using the State-of-the-Art analytical equipment for physical characterization of aerosols such as particle size, shape, number concentration, morphology. Additionally, as well pure research on aerosol behavior. The work will also include: to perform experiments for method development and validation purposes and to consolidate raw data going to be used by the scientists. Furthermore, the chosen candidate will ensure that the laboratory is kept tidy and that all laboratory equipment (i.e. balances, data loggers etc.) are calibrated according to PMI’s quality requirements.

Typical activities:

  • Perform analyses in aerosol matrices using particle size distribution techniques
  • Support experiments for method development and validation
  • Record data according to quality rules, handle basic calculations and consolidation
  • Manage maintenance of instruments and follow laboratory safety guidelines
  • Work in close collaboration with the team and with other R&D teams
  • Work according to quality standards


  • CFC in Chemistry or equivalent
  • At least 1 year working experience in a scientific laboratory
  • Precision and tidiness in the laboratory activities
  • Good oral and written English communication skills , French would be an asset
  • Good command of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and consolidation of data
  • Good communications skills and synergy with other team members
