As a Senior Accountant with us, you'll be at the forefront of financial operations, administering the monthly close procedures with precision and finesse. From preparing journal entries and reconciliations to crafting insightful financial reports, you'll play a crucial role in ensuring compliance with ASPE accounting standards and driving the company's success.
But that's not all—you'll also have the chance to flex your analytical muscles by participating in budgeting, forecasting, and tax filing processes. Responsibilities
Reporting to the Controller, your duties and responsibilities will include;
- Oversee monthly accounting close procedures and deliverables, ensuring compliance with ASPE standards
- Prepare detailed account reconciliations and journal entries monthly
- Generate comprehensive financial reports, analyzing actual results against budget and forecasts
- Assist in both external and internal audit processes
- Contribute to budgeting and forecasting activities
- Aid in tax filing procedures, including the preparation of regulatory tax files and support during annual audits and tax engagements
- Manage the preparation and filing of HST returns
- Handle accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash disbursements, and bank reconciliation tasks efficiently
- Take on ad hoc projects and additional duties within the Accounting department as required
Qualifications
- Possession of a university degree in Accounting with a CPA designation or progress toward completing the CPA program
- 4+ years of professional accounting experience encompassing internal and external financial reporting
- Demonstrated experience within the construction industry and familiarity with percentage of completion accounting methods
- Proficiency in Excel coupled with a strong analytical and financial background
- Experience with Jonas or proven ability to adapt quickly to new software systems and tools, displaying a constant desire for learning and improvement
- Excellent professional communication skills paired with exceptional organizational abilities
- Capacity to collaborate effectively within a team environment while managing multiple tasks concurrently
- Strong problem-solving skills and meticulous attention to detail.
