about the company & job
My client is a multinational insurance firm and they are currently looking for an Assistant Claims Manager (Personal GI and Life) to join them on a permanent basis. As the Assistant Claims Manager, you will be responsible for:

  • assisting to manage Personal GI and Life claims team to ensure that the claims processes (including regulatory guidelines) are carried out in accordance with procedures and requirement
  • ensuring registrations of claims are promptly registered within the KPI timeline
  • setting of reserves to ensure that the claims are being registered with the appropriate reserves for handling
  • maintaining appropriate reserves to ensure that the claims are not under reserve during the process of handling
  • authorising and approving payment of claims within the limit of authority approved
  • preparing of memo for claims above authority limit for HOD’s or CEO’s approval on registration/revision of reserves/settlement /repudiation of claims
  • appointment of adjusters/solicitors for claims
  • reviewing adjuster’s report and giving instructions on settlement and/or repudiation of claims
  • reviewing solicitor’s advice and giving instructions on settlement or repudiation of claims for litigated matters
  • manage service partners (adjuster, lawyer, investigator etc) to accomplish corporate objectives within the compliance of authority rules, regulation, statute law and other procedural reference
  • controlling and monitoring claims settling agents and conduct yearly claims audit
  • preparing necessary statistical information and quarterly reports for management use
  • managing Re-Insurance, Co-Insurance claim recoveries from insurer, re-insurer and brokers, both local and foreign
  • assisting to review complaints, investigating external and internal fraud in order to make recommendation on the action required
  • assisting in training and development of junior staff


skills and experience required
Your requirements:

  • Good insurance knowledge and at least 7 years of experience in general insurance claims area inclusive of 1 year at supervisory level
  • University graduate or above and/ or Professional qualification
