Home based role with travel between Nottingham, Sheffield, South Yorkshire and Bedfordshire

Job Title: Area Manager - Living+

Lenght of post: 6 months +

Job Purpose
As a member of the Operational Leadership Team, define how the service delivery, strategic growth and sustainability plans will be implemented and actioned within the area-based services. Lead the area based teams in effective and efficient delivery of high quality services to meet the needs of Living+ customers and other key stakeholders.

Key Accountabilities

* As a member of the Operational Leadership Team (OLT) to provide effective and professional leadership to area based teams, supporting and promoting the activities of Living+ and contributing significantly to building a high performing business.
* Contribute to the strategic development plans for Living+. Identify synergies across services and take accountability for delivering key business priorities.
* Work together with colleagues to develop consistent approaches and solutions to universal issues and to deliver Living+ growth plans.
* Effectively manage operational team performance and ensure that Living+ services are safe and compliant. Measure performance against agreed objectives, targets and budgets.
* Lead, coach and develop team members, promoting accountability for self-development, high performance and continuous improvement, contributing to overall business performance.
* Lead on the operational contribution to tender submissions, ensuring the expertise of operational staff is fully utilised.
* Take the lead and drive delivery of national project work to achieve efficiencies and improvements in operational approaches.
* Engage and build effective relationships with key partners and stakeholders both inside and outside of the organisation.
* Act on behalf of the Head of Service Delivery and other members of Living+ Senior Leadership Team (SLT), as required

Person Specification


* Extensive knowledge of the Housing & Care sectors and associated legislation , policy and regulations
* Working knowledge of the issues facing the communities that Living+ serves and the roles of partner organisations in working together to tackle these issues
* Working knowledge of basic employment legislation and people management principles
* Working knowledge of Health & Safety issues and Quality audits
* Understanding of adult and child safeguarding
* Understanding of national policies on housing and social care and has an up-to-date knowledge of policy developments in the field


* Proven operational experience in a similar industry with line management experience
* Experience of leading teams through change and achieving successful results against visible targets
* Proven delivery of operational plans in a similar organisation
* Proven implementation of new business ideas/opportunities
* Experience of influencing strategic thinking, planning and delivery
