job description

Are you an experienced Children's Social worker seeking a new challenge?

Do you want to make a positive difference to a child's life and enjoy working on the front line? This is an opportunity to join a dynamic and diverse team at an exciting time.

Our Care Management teams play a vital role in continuing the child's journey when cases are transferred from the Assessment Service and where longer term involvement is needed to try to resolve concerns about children's welfare.

We work with varied, carefully managed caseloads of:

* children in need
* children subject to child protection plans
* children who are looked after in care, including cases of children who are the subject of court proceedings.

There is a strong emphasis on being child focused and placing the child at the centre of the multi-agency work involved.

We are committed to improving the lives of the children and young people we work with and enabling them to achieve their potential.

Rewards and Benefits

* £2,500 recruitment payment with your first salary payment and an annual £2,500 retention payment
* 22-30 days' annual leave depending on grade and length of service
* affordable housing and relocation package of £7,500
* membership of Local Government Pension Scheme
* flexible working options including flexi-time and term-time only contracts
* Wider Wallet scheme with access to retail, travel and holiday discounts and offers, childcare vouchers, and health plans
* cycle purchase scheme
* discounted parking and gym membership
* season ticket/travel loans
* employee support including Occupational Health and Counselling
* staff support and networking groups for BME and LGBT employees
* car allowance for children's social workers.

Minimum requirements

* Experience in Statutory Children's Social Care Services (CP/Safeguarding/CIN, R&A, LAC)
* HCPC qualified social worker.
* Skilled in reporting.
* You're child focused and used to managing a varied and complex caseload effectively.
* You have worked collaboratively with partner agencies to ensure the needs of children and families are met at the appropriate level.
* A natural ability to communicate effectively and work to deadlines.
* In addition, you will have the knowledge and appreciation of the importance of performing to an excellent standard in accordance with the HCPC standards of practice.
