This is a fantastic opportunity for an aspiring Development Manager to take the next step in their career and work with a global organisation leading a dynamic an successful team and taking ownership on IT systems.

Role objectives

Within the organisation they have teams of Development and QA specialists who primarily develop and support strategic products and platforms. It would be the responsibility of the Development Manager to ensure that the applications and systems are maintained to a high standard, providing a robust environment for the application stack. The Development Manager would be responsible for a team of individuals who can design, improve, develop, deploy and maintain a robust, quality set of applications. The role requires effective co-ordination of the development projects and management of their inter-dependencies including oversight of any risks and issues arising and is ultimately responsible for the overall integrity of the applications.

Key accountabilities

* Work with the Portfolio team to estimate the resource and impact of the project during initialisation. * Planning and designing the development and proactively monitoring its progress, resolving issues and initiating appropriate corrective action.
* Ensuring effective quality assurance and the overall integrity of the development - focusing inwardly on the internal consistency of the development, and outwardly on its coherence with infrastructure planning, interfaces with other applications and systems, technical and specialist standards.
* Ensuring projects are delivered to the appropriate level of quality, on time and within budget, in accordance with the delivery plan.
* Managing third party (both internal and external) contributions to the plan.
* Managing communications with all stakeholders.
* Managing risks to the developments successful outcome.
* Initiating extra activities and other management interventions wherever gaps in the development are identified or issues arise.
* Reporting the progress of the development projects at regular intervals to the Change and Planning team.
* Ensuring that adequate documentation around systems are kept up-to-date and are freely available to the team.
* Ensuring there is allocation of resources and skills to complete the task within the agreed timeframe.
* Translation of High Level business requirements into technical functional requirements.
* Ability to optimise and effectively manage resources and time of the team members.
* Work with the team to identify strategies for stabilising the code base of core products.
* Creating Project Plans for development and assigning work packages.
* Assist the Risk and Security team to ensure high levels of information security are consistently applied and validated. A high level of customer interaction may be required to interface into other departments of the business and our extensive list of blue chip clients. Typically this will involve attendance at meetings, conference calls and potentially site visits to our customers.

* Proven development skills and keen attention to detail
* Ability to plan and prioritise activities aligned to changing demands
* Experience of delivery within Agile/Waterfall and Bi-Modal techniques and environments.
* Attributes The role also requires experience of exercising the disciplines around stringent change control processes and excellent problem solving skills as part of the day to day maintenance and support of the systems.
* You should be able to demonstrate leadership and have an ability manage a team of skilled developers to ensure the deliverables are achieved.
