The Environmental Manager is responsible for informing the Site Manager and Operations Supervisors of acts, procedures, operations of company and contractors which are out of compliance or in-congruent with approved site permits, applicable environmental regulations and/or good environmental practice and should at the same time suggest an alternative act, procedure or operation which would result in improved environmental performance/compliance.


* A salary of £35,000 - £60,000 per annum

Key Responsibilities:

* Constantly seek ways to improve the site's environmental performances and should make proposals to the Site Manager
* Ensure site activities are in compliance with site permits, approvals and applicable environmental legislation
* Complete and/or coordinate baseline studies, site characterisation work and environmental assessment work to support site permits
* Update site closure plan and asset retirement as required using internal and external resources as required
* Complete and submit Environmental Compliance Approvals (ECA), Permit to Take Water applications, and other environmental permits/authorisations for the site as required
* Communicate conditions of permits, authorisations and/or approvals to company personnel and contractors/consultants as required
* Conduct daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual sampling and monitoring as per applicable regulations, approved permits and corporate requirements
* Prepare and submit reports to regulatory agencies, and internal or external personnel as required
* Compile and maintain environmental database and records such as results of site inspections, water/air/sediment sample results database, energy consumption, waste manifests and environmental incidents
* Formulate and track environmental programs, schedules and budgets
* Coordinate environmental initiatives such as recycling and site beautification's
* Plan, coordinate, and supervise environmental work such as sediment control structures, surface water diversion/collection systems and site remediation
* Takes responsibility for aspects of environmental matters, over which the individual has control, including adherence to all requirements applicable to the company
* Such other duties as may be assigned from time to time

Qualifications and Experience

* 2 - 5 years of related experience
* Graduate of Environmental Studies, Sciences or related field
* Strong organisational skills and ability to communicate effectively with regulatory agencies and with management at all levels
* Willingness to take initiative and implement and research new environmental programs
* Intermediate level knowledge of Microsoft Office
