Group Procurement Category Manager

I am currently working on a brilliant opportunity for a Group Procurement Category Manager. This is to work for an award-winning UK-wide main contractor, which will be based in South London.

For this role, it is crucial that you have experience working for a main contractor within construction, in a Senior Buying / Procurement role.

You will be specifically responsible for a number of key tasks including, but not limited to cost reduction, managing supply chain performance and trading agreement compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

* Managing procurement projects with a focus on housing but also including non-housing related procurement categories
* Evaluating new products and services
* Contributing to the development of the Group Supply Chain Strategy
* Act as a senior point of contact for procurement activities, liaising between the Group Procurement Director, the supply chain and internal stakeholders
* Managing trading relationships with the supply chain
* Establishing processes that ensure trading agreements deliver their full benefits
* Managing reporting regimes and interpreting report data
* Promoting the Group within the supply chain
* Ensure compliance with corporate requirements
* Participating in reviewing new products and services and propose changes to the stated strategy because of market movements
* Keep abreast of market developments, demand trends and risks.
* Ensure the production of accurate reporting of relevant information, in accordance with group requirements
* Focus on exceeding service expectations by delivering an agile, value adding service
* Responsible for creating & delivering savings forecast and accurate reporting on supplier spend
* This role will require travel throughout the region

Experience and Qualifications:

* Graduate or equivalent in relevant discipline preferred
* Experience of "group" procurement as well as operational procurement
* Excellent knowledge of construction processes particularly residential
* Supply Chain market knowledge
* Able to analyse large amounts of complex information and produce coherent summaries, analysis, options, recommendations and conclusions
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Excellent IT skills
* Solutions focussed with the ability to manage stakeholders, risks and opportunities
* Good admin skills with ability to constantly review priorities while achieve objectives in appropriate time scales
* Sound commercial acumen
* Good technical knowledge
* Good negotiation skills
