Assessor - Health and Social Care/CACHE

Wakefield
Part-time (2 days per week)
Permanent

The role is within our school of Health, Care and Services, the post holder will be responsible for a range of Health and Social Care and Childcare students and will plan and carry out assessment against nationally recognised standards to ensure timely achievement of qualifications enabling students to reach their
potential. Specifically the post holder will be responsible for approximately 23-30 CACHE Childcare student work placements. These students need a minimum of 2 visits per placement and could complete up to 3 placements per year. The post holder will also be required to assist with Health and Social Care placement assessing. Approximately 80 Year 12 Health and Social Care students complete a 1 week and 2 week block placement.

MAIN DUTIES

- Work with students to support them with their qualification and to monitor progress to maximise their potential.
- Travel to a variety of locations to make student/employer visits, as required.
- Carry out risk assessments for new settings, where needed.
- Visit students on placement to provide support, prepare and review action plans, undertake observations and assessments of competency to provide feedback in line with regulatory and organisational requirements as part of their programme of study to ensure successful achievement of their awards.
- Maintaining appropriate observational and assessment records and ensure relevant paperwork is completed to evidence the assessment process.
- Support and advise students with portfolio building to target standard and ensure they are submitted on time.
- Receive and act on feedback from internal and external verifiers.
- Communicate with employers and workplace mentors to confirm assessment dates, times and activities and to build positive relationships.
- Work according to awarding body rules and regulations in all areas.
- Develop new materials as relevant in order to enhance the delivery programme.
- Have high expectations of students and motivate and build a 'can do' attitude with them.
- Manage your own workload to ensure the full requirements of the post are carried out.
- Play an active role in the department, contributing to meetings, Schemes of Work, assessment, updates as appropriate and sharing best practice.
- Working with others as appropriate, help the college source and secure additional placements providers.
