Are you an experienced HGV Technician looking for a contract or permanent position in the Brecon area?

My client has an immediate opportunity for a HGV workshop fitter/technician to join their Highways and recycling team based in Brecon.

The main purpose of the role will be to carry out vehicle and plant Inspections, maintenance, servicing and repairs in accordance with DVSA standards, Fleet Policy and manufacturers' recommendations. To assist in the vehicle and plant maintenance operations both in the workshops and off site.

Duties to include:



1 To ensure compliance with the legal requirement in relation to the operation of the plant and transport fleet, the Operator's license and DVSA guidelines.
2 To carry out vehicle and plant inspections, maintenance, servicing and repairs, following maintenance schedules and minimising downtime and disruption to service users.
3 To complete and maintain accurate documentation including Vehicle and Plant Inspection and service sheets. To sign each Inspection sheet at the end of the Inspection and record all repairs as required.
4 To identify parts required to complete satisfactory repairs on vehicles and plant, draw the parts from stores and record their allocation in an efficient and effective manner to ensure current and future down time is minimised.
5 To undertake road testing of vehicles if appropriate driving license held. To undertake testing of plant where the appropriate license/qualification is held.
6 To ensure that all procedures in relation to the Fleet Management system are adhered to.
7 To report any damage repair or non-predictable maintenance undertaken on a vehicle/plant, to enable appropriate costings to be captured.
8 To support the workshop operations by answering telephones, ordering parts, dealing with customer queries and assisting the Workshop Manager/ Supervisor in their duties.
9 To ensure service is delivered to a high standard of customer care.
10 To carry out mobile off-site working when required, following all site Health & Safety regulations and procedures.
11 Maintain workshop housekeeping to a high level, keeping own work areas clean and tidy.
12 Attend all relevant training programmes as identified by the Workshop Manager.
13 Mentor and train apprentices or career graded positions and approve any of their work carried out as and when required.

Requirements:

The ideal candidate will have experience in heavy vehicle or heavy plant maintenance. Experience in vehicle inspection to meet the standards set by DVSA.
