Our client is market-leading company with a brand and reputation envied by its industry peers. They are a provider of luxury accommodation across the UK.

Due to continued expansion they are now looking to acquire the services of an experienced and self-motivated Materials Buyer to join the team in the Wolverhampton Head Office. Successful candidates must have a track record of working on residential projects.

Ideally, you will have commercial experience however, residential could also be a consideration. This is a unique opportunity to further your career with a progressive company offering variety and recognition.

Main responsibilities:

* Assist with the production of a pre-tender cost plan.

* Assist with the production of the Construction Programme (prepared by the Construction Manager).

* Identify lead times for each sub-contract package.

* Understand drawings, specifications and construction techniques, identifying and resolving deficiencies in project documentation to ensure timely production of robust tender packages.

* Preparation of all sub-contract and material tender packages in accordance with the design programme.

* Issue tender packages to suppliers as well as managing the tender process, answering supplier queries and supplying further information required.

* Negotiating with suppliers to deliver on cost savings and recommending final choice suppliers in order for the Directors to sign off.

* Identify any issues with financial / contractual implications and elevate them to senior management

Produce and maintain a schedule of anticipated overall project cost.

* Focus on delivering added value through technical competence, functional knowledge and process efficiency.

* Analyse tender returns, ensuring completeness and preparation of a matrix to demonstrate tender comparison for each sub-contract package/plant/materials purchase.

Key Skills & Experience:

* Previous buying experience within a similar industry.

* Knowledge of building, material components, Building Regulations and H&S

* A construction related higher national certificate or diploma in Building Construction would be advantageous.

* Experience with construction industry procurement software.

* Sub-contract experience would be advantageous although not essential.

* Good negotiation, influencing and communication skills.
