Are you looking for a new challenge based in Essex? Our client are a Local Authority who are currently looking to appoint a Planning Officer on an initial 3 month contract, which has the option for further extensions.

The position is dealing mainly with householder applications but there is scope to progress. The postholder must have good experience of dealing with the public including in potentially confrontational situations. They must understand the purpose and operation of Planning legislation and of administrative functions including report writing and record keeping. They must also be able to use windows based computer software. They must also be able to manage a workload in a fast pace, target driven environment.

It is essential that the postholder has a clean driving licence to undertake site visits using one of the Council's pool cars.


Site visits and site appraisals

Research, analysis, report writing

Dealing with enquiries(by telephone, in writing and in person)

Attending pre-application meetings and carrying out negotiations with applicants

Appraising planning applications and making recommendations

Preparing appeal statements and attending hearings

You will possess excellent communication skills and have experience in the following:

- Clean Drviers Licence

- Development Management

- Planning

- Negotiations

- Presentations
