A welcoming SEN Primary School in Keighley is looking to appoint a SEN Teaching Assistant in their PMLD class. The classroom is split into two parts: one caters for students with complex medical needs, and the other caters for ambulant children. Both classes are working at P scale 2 and 3. The successful applicant will have PMLD experience, as well as the motivation to work hard within the team to keep the children happy, safe and comfortable. They will also need a degree of resiliency and a positive focus to ensure the children receive the highest quality of care. The role has aspects of personal care, supporting students with trips to the bathroom and other life skills. This is a permanent position, following a successful trial period.

The role will include:
Providing assistance to the class teacher
Caring for the children's educational, physical and social-emotional needs throughout the day
Managing small groups of children independently
Working 1:1 with students to help develop their work
Supporting the general wellbeing of the students in the school
Monitoring and evaluating pupils' learning under the guidance of the teacher
Assisting the teachers in the use of relevant management strategies to ensure a purposeful environment for teaching and learning to take place
Assisting with students' personal care

Experience of Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties is essential
Moving and Handling certification ideal but not essential
A desire to encourage children to succeed
A caring, patient and calm personality
Ability to work with students with a variety of learning difficulties
An understanding of children with special needs
Flexibility in your approach to education
Resiliency and optimism
