Policy and Improvement Officer

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Policy and Improvement Officer based in a Local Authority in Central London.


Post: Policy and Improvement Officer

Rate: Circa £25 - £26 per hour


The main duties of the role are as follows;



* To support the development and implementation of relevant statutory strategies and plans in the areas of client Directorates. This will require the post-holder to maintain a current understanding of any statutory strategies and / or policies that are required within specialist area and ensure that the Council is compliant in all regards.
* To support on a range of subject matters involving public and social policy including community safety, economy, welfare, housing, public health, public realm, regeneration, community cohesion, equality, voluntary and community.
* To support on a range of functional activity including scrutiny, equality, partnership, engagement and consultation.
* To support the Council's work on external accreditation, recognition and awards. This will include tasks such as preparing submissions for national awards or working on pilot projects for central government.

Requirements



* A good understanding of the national and local context for and operations of one or more of the following specialisms:
* children's services, including education, children's social care, and safeguarding
* Improvement and/or Inspection
* culture, cohesion, integration, inclusion and equalityPRINCE2 or equivalent project management qualification/training or demonstrable experience
* Relevant professional qualification or equivalent experience in particular supporting the coordination of functions in the corporate centre or directorates
* Ability to develop technical skills and abilities in relation to the policy analysis and interpretation that leads to development organisation or borough wide strategic direction setting
