We are looking for a driven and dependable individual to support a pupil in a well resourced, welcoming and inclusive mainstream primary school in Tameside. The position is to start as soon as possible and for the rest of the academic year. The pupils at the school are aged between 3 and 11. For this particular role, you will be supporting a pupil with a hearing impairment with their academic focus and checking their understanding and ensuring communication between class teacher and student. You will on occasion also offer general support to the class teacher for the whole class and for setting up the classroom ready for activities.

The school values pride, respect, aspiration, achievement, citizenship, care, teamwork and promises that they will:
*care for each pupil's health, safety and happiness
*nurture each pupil to develop a wealth of academic and personal skills and attributes to ensure they are well-prepared for their future
*provide a high quality, broad and balanced curriculum and resources in order that each pupil reaches the highest standards of achievement
*contact, advise and support parents where there are any barriers to learning for their child that are affecting their progress or behaviour and attitude to learning

The school has several objectives regarding pupils with SEND, these are:
*To operate a 'whole pupil, whole school' approach to the management and provision of support for children with SEND.
*To identify SEND early so that any potential barriers to learning are removed and no time in education lost.

The benefits of this great role are:
*Working in a school rated as good by Ofsted
*Working with a staff team who will improve your skills and knowledge as an SEND teaching assistant

The responsibilities of this role include:
*Working with a pupil with hearing impairment to improve their understanding of subjects
*Prepare the classroom for lesson planned (e.g. gather materials, set up the area)
*Use Makaton/ BSL to support the pupil's needs

The requirements for this role are:
*A DBS on the update service
*Experience working with children or working with adults with additional care needs
*Having experience in and an understanding of Makaton or BSL

The successful candidate will work in a warm, friendly and caring environment with a pupil who is eager to learn.
