Process Engineer

Randstad Engineering are currently searching for a Process Engineer or Automation Engineer or EC&I Engineer to join one of the worlds leading Raw Materials businesses. This role will be based in Port Talbot on a permanent basis, paying between £30,000 and £40,000 per year.



The Role

We currently have a number an opportunity within our Continuous Annealing and Processing (CAPL) department for a Process Control and Systems Engineer. The department is part of the Cold Rolled Products Works area and can produce up to a million tonnes of high quality cold reduced finished strip steel product a year. The position is in a tier 1 COMAH site where you will have responsibility for all level 1 and level 2 systems, including Line Automation systems, Plc's and distributed control systems, ensuring the safe operation of the plant and enabling CAPL to meet its annual plan in full. You will achieve this by working as part of the CAPL day engineering team, working closely with your colleagues to support the manufacturing teams and each other.

What are we looking for?

We are looking for applicants who will have previous experience in Process Control within a manufacturing environment. Ideally degree educated, you must be educated to at least HNC level or equivalent in a relevant discipline and have an appreciation of the techniques; problems and standards associated with steel or related engineering disciplines. We are ideally looking for a self-motivated individual who has ideally have a working knowledge of SAP systems in the use for maintenance would be desirable.

Applicants will have experience of PLC'S, SCADA and drive systems / motor control - (inverter drives). We are looking for candidates to have Level 1 and level 2 systems from a programming to application stage. We are looking to recruit a front line maintenance support to manage plc and computer systems. Experience of the following would be desirable:



* PLC skills, including Siemens S7, GE HPCi, Gemcad, Eurotherm Lintools and ABB 800XA programming suites.
* SCADA skills including GE Ifix, Fix 32 and Siemens WinCC would be desirable.
* Capability of trend analysis, particularly using IBA and Wonderware historian (these trend packages are relatively intuitive; therefore any experience of trend analysis should enable them to adapt to these).
* Familiar with a range of transducers and Actuators such as pressure transmitters, magnetic flow meters, temperature measurement, fisher control valves and burner control.
* Closed loop control principles including PID loops and current loops.
* A working knowledge and understanding of VMS programming level 2 systems.
* An appreciation of Networks, IP Addressing, subnets, switch and router topologies would be a benefit.
* Understanding of Windows operating systems to a systems administrator level.
* Understanding of electrical and P&ID drawings.

Applicants will have Knowledge of QA and ISO9001, the impact of same on EUETS. Understanding of Environmental issues and ISO14001, internal management of Dust Monitoring equipment. You will also have Process Safety experience including experience of COMAH, HAZOP, LOPA, SIF/SIL,
