Cosma Casting UK is an operating unit of Magna International, one of the world's premier global automotive suppliers. Magna's pioneering technology and creativity allows our customers to ask for solutions that lie beyond what they previously thought was possible.

Cosma Casting UK has established a manufacturing facility on a green field site in Telford, UK. For this venture, we are looking for a Production Planner. Cosma Castings UK will specialise in high pressure die-casting that designs and builds medium to large aluminium die-cast automotive components.

Position Summary:

The Production Planner is responsible for effectively planning all manufacturing operations supporting the customer's schedules and managing variations in demand and capacity. The planner will control WIP (Work in Progress) and actively work to reduce total inventory using the lean tools available. The Production Planner will provide information and feedback of any delays and partial shipments back into the Logistics Co-ordinator to update Customer portals. The planner will communicate with production departments to ensure two way communication of changes, challenges and create tracking metrics to present performance and trends.

Role Responsibilities:

The role entails but is not limited to:-

* To understand and interpret MRP (Material Resource Planning) in order to schedule manufacturing jobs in a timely manner according to the capacity available for the necessary departments and prioritising as required
* To constantly review the production plan in line with customer demand. Maintain a flexible approach and amend as necessary to meet contingencies arising
* Ensure Customer Service is maintained to the highest standard, proactively have discussions with production cells to ensure deliveries are on time
* Monitor EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) errors and achieve resolution
* Track and communicate daily, weekly, monthly loading of production cells
* Manage capacity for maintenance, tool changes and planned down time
* Work with the material handlers to ensure raw material is at a point of use when required
* Run WIP/SWIP (Work in progress/Stocked Work In Progress) model to achieve business plan for inventory
* Communicate planning updates to required parties
* Use a lean approach stream line processes and reduce WIP
* Facilitate and present planning updates to wider team and management
* Key SAP user and point of contact for other SAP users
* Facilitate SAP and Manufacturing Execution System master data updates
* Perform any other duties as may be reasonably requested by the MP&L Manager
* Promote the companies HSE policies across the department and plant




* Strong background in using SAP for Planning and Production (or similar systems, Baan, Oracle)
* MES (Manufacturing Execution System) experience and shop floor reporting
* Manufacturing and/or Automotive sector experience
* Excellent Microsoft skills (Excel VLookups, Data Sharing)
* Confident to deliver a presentation to customers and colleagues
* Analytical
* Hands on
* MRP and/or ERP

* Lean trained
* Higher Education / HNC / Degree qualified (Manufacturing / Business)
* Power point proficient

Work Environment

* Although this role is office based, Plant conditions necessitate exposure to heat, cold, dust, hot objects, and loud noises within our manufacturing environment. Full Health and Safety training and PPE provided for all conditions.
