POSITION SUMMARY

The Program Manager is responsible for managing all engineering related program tasks from design, development, validation testing, fabrication, process layout and culminating in production start, continuous improvement initiatives and service part requirements.

WORK ENVIRONMENT



* The work environment includes both office and shop floor
* The individual must be able to perform all essential functions on the shop floor, in meetings and with employees, management, customers and suppliers
* Plant conditions necessitate exposure to heat (temperatures (above 900° F/ 270C)), cold, dust, hot objects, loud noise and exposure to foundry chemicals
* Must be flexible with some National, European and International Travel expected.
* Working hours will mirror that of our customer but we require people to be flexible and able to work additional hours as required

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES



* All Planning, development and problem solving relating to the program
* Ability to deliver multiple components, tooling and production systems on parallel timelines
* Experience of PPAP and full product development and delivery
* Develop and maintain project schedules
* Establish, administer and implement program budgets with commercial team
* Develop and maintain program timing schedules and milestones for development, prototype and production (CPMP).
* Discuss and provide regular updates of project status to management (CPMP)
* Monitor adherence to customer contract requirements
* Lead APQP meetings, driving accountability
* Identify and resolves potential program issues and/ or problems (CPMP)
* Oversee program related engineering change activity with a focus on adherence to established processes, timely change implementation and cost control
* Prepare statement of requirements RFQs, quote comparison and CapEX approvals
* Identify, plan for and implement cost reduction and/ or quality improvement initiatives based on product, productivity and/ or process improvements throughout the project life time
* Understand process documentation and customer specific requirements as they relate to the program
* Prepare and present material for program reviews
* Support and coordinate with Department Leaders in preparation of RFQs and proposals, statement of work and specifications and execution of contract requirements
* Maintain strong working relationships with, and take a consultative role in key program executing functions of (a) Manufacturing, (b) Quality Assurance and (c) Materials in support of customer expectations
* Involved in business development process including new and replacement business.
* Liaise with external and internal customers and suppliers
* Follow and comply with all Operational Procedures and Policies as outlined in the Employee Handbook, Quality and Environment programs
* Understand, promote and practice Magna's philosophies and Employee Charter
* Performs other duties as required

QUALIFICATIONS

Education



* Engineering Degree, ideally in Mechanical Engineering
* ONC/HNC/HND Industrial Engineering with progressive proven experience

Work Experience



* Experience in high pressure die castings within the automotive industry
* Project management experience
* Strong Microsoft Project Skills
* Tier 1 Automotive Product Delivery Experience
* Experience of vehicle body assembly process development, joining technologies and body assembly equipment including tooling, automation and robotics essential
* Lean Manufacturing background and Six Sigma preferred
* Used to troubleshooting, providing insight, efficiency improvements, design for ergonomics and safety.
* Experience of CNC machining, robotic automation, process control, time study
* Evidence of an innovative approach to technical problem solving and process development using Root Cause Analysis, Statistical problem solving and DOE
* Able to co-ordinate projects involving various departments, multiple items of equipment, integration with existing equipment; involvement with other projects and timelines.
* Familiar with UK health and safety regulations and applicable standards relating to safeguarding machinery and robot safety.
