Purchasing Manager required on a permanent basis to join an industry leading manufacturing business.

Have you got a experience of leading and developing successful purchasing teams within a fast paced Engineering / manufacturing environment? You will play a key role in all commercial aspects of procurement and supporting smooth flow of material both into and through the factory. Ensure a total cost of ownership approach without compromising quality, delivery or time ultimately resulting in a profitable and customer oriented service. Manage controls to ensure that customer machines are progressed and shipped in a timely and cost effective manner.

Key responsibilities:

* Deliver and develop the purchasing strategy to deliver total cost reductions, lead-time reduction, inventory optimisation and favourable payment terms that deliver a competitive edge.
* To continuously develop supply base to ensure excellent supplier performance.
* Design and implement best practice purchasing processes and procedures.
* Ensure all Purchasing team members negotiate effectively to gain cost reduction opportunities based on a total cost approach
* Manage the purchase requisition process ensuring timely sign off, adherence to process in accordance with company policy and procedures
* Track purchasing activity and create and maintain meaningful business KPI's that report performance of the Purchasing Department
* Use market intelligence and appropriate indicators to anticipate commodity trends and ensure business strategy is aligned.
* Ensure Purchasing fully support business requirements such as NPPD projects, ECN process to achieve successful outcomes.
* Provide leadership and development to the team through effective coaching
* Leadership responsibilities for direct reports in hiring, development, disciplinary actions and human resource policy and procedures.
* Develop department goals, tactics and objectives to ensure alignment with company strategy.
* Support and encourage positive employee relations, engagement and communication.
* Support and actively promote the Company Values within the team and the wider business.
* Responsible for ensuring adherence to business compliance and meeting audit requirements for all purchasing processes, e.g. ISO.
* Proactively support Zero Harm vision by fully supporting the Company Roadmaps with emphasis towards shop floor manual handling potentially impacted by the commercial parameters; as well as embedding the vision within the Purchasing Department.

Experience required:

* CIPS Diploma or Equivalent
* Project management
* Significant experience in a similar position.
* Experience within a modern, lean manufacturing environment.
* Experience with budget management.
* A successful track record of building high performing teams.
* Understanding of other functions within a manufacturing environment.
* Understanding of lean manufacturing, JIT, PFEP (or similar) and KanBan.
* Excellent communication skills
* Proven record of cost reductions
* Proven record of sourcing out of BCC
* Experienced and proven track record in global sourcing
* Ability to lead, motivate, mentor and develop people.
* Ability to control and improve cost of materials and eliminate waste.
* Strong negotiation skills.
* Able to develop supplier partnerships and forward plan opportunities.
* Understanding of contracts and contract law.
* PC Skills - particularly Excel, Word, Outlook.
* Results orientation.
* Ability to contribute to a continuous improvement environment
