job description

Randstad Education is currently recruiting on behalf of a large secondary school in Runcorn for a temporary School Network Manager to start immediately. The school is a warm, caring and happy place to work, catering for pupils from 11 to 18 years old from the surrounding community.

The role of School Network Manager is an interim position for approximately 3 months, until the end of the academic year. This is a full-time position, 37 hours Monday to Friday, to start as soon as possible. The role is covering an open vacancy, so for the right person there is a chance it could become a permanent post. This is a great opportunity to work as the leader of a committed and supportive school IT team, delivering a quality IT service across the school.

Responsibilities would include:

- Management and maintenance of all IT infrastructure, hardware and software

- Maintenance of servers (physical and virtual) including exchange servers and print servers

- Administering internet and email user accounts, managing permissions and access, maintaining data integrity at all times

- Maintenance of network hardware and equipment including CCTV, and maintenance of software and licences

- Management of security systems including firewalls, anti-virus, intrusion detection systems and disaster recovery solutions

- Inventory management, ordering stock, and assessing and project-managing the implementation of any new systems when required

- Management of a team of junior IT technicians and developing them to their full potential

- Collaboration with colleagues across the whole school as well as key external partners, ensuring the provision of quality IT technical support to all staff and pupils

As the successful applicant for the role of School Network Manager, you will have:

- Experience using Citrix, Microsoft Servers, and VPN systems along with networking protocols (DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP) is essential; previous work in a similar role in a school would be advantageous

- Excellent administrative and ICT technical skills, including attention to detail, and the ability to multi-task

- Proven people management experience in a senior level role

- The ability to reach deadlines under pressure, and prioritise workload

- The ability to work with high levels of tact, confidentiality and discretion

Our staff have a well-deserved reputation as being the best in the local area and to assist you during the recruitment process you will benefit from:

- a dedicated, professional and friendly specialist School Support Services consultant

- a branch with 24 hour on-call facility to handle queries

- competitive salary and benefits offers including pension

- commitment to your continuing professional development through free training

- 'recommend a friend' bonus worth up to £300
