A Pupil Referral Unit in Ripon is seeking an experienced SEBD Teaching Assistant to start as soon as possible to work until the end of the academic year, with potential for the work to become permanent if desired.

The school caters for pupils 11-19 years old who are unable to access mainstream education due to socio-emotional and behavioural difficulties. Students attending the school have a variety of needs, often with an EHCP or SEN diagnosis, and challenging behaviour. This role would entail providing support in the classroom and throughout the day, alongside the other teaching assistants and class teacher.

The role will include:

* Supporting the students both in lessons and during break times
* Managing behaviour in line with the school's behaviour policy and positive handling plans
* Working proactively with other team members including the class teacher, other teaching assistants, and support staff
* Ensuring the safeguarding of students at all times


* Experience of working with young people or adults with SEMH/SEBD/SEND needs
* The ability to manage challenging behaviour
* The ability to engage with, and build rapport with young people
* Creativity and a proactive nature, with flexibility in your supporting style
* The ability to uphold a nurturing and caring presence
* (Team teach training is essential for this role)
