Randstad Education is proud to work with a brilliant alternative provision that caters for students who struggle to access mainstream education. The students very often display challenging behaviours and have Social Emotional and Mental Health needs. This Secondary provision school is seeking a 1:1 Behaviour Support Assistant to support a pupil throughout their day, providing guidance and reassurance when needed. General knowledge of the KS3/4 curriculum would be an advantage. This is a long term role, with potential to extend longer.

Your role will include:
Establishing constructive relationships with both 1:1 as wells as the rest of the class/school students
Following the positive behaviour plans for each individual child
Support class teacher and teaching assistants/support staff to maintain a positive working environment
Develop a clear understanding of the specific needs of specifically 1:1 pupil, but also the rest of the class
Looking after children's physical, emotional, mental and social welfare
Recognising signs of distress in children, offering reassurance and de-escalating the situation to best of your ability
To maintain a record and provide regular feedback about pupils to the teachers and/or SENCO in order to best track pupil progress
Assist the school in communicating with parent and carers using appropriate approach
To support all learners in their curriculum studies and throughout the day

Key skills and experience needed:
Excellent communications and interpersonal skills
Commitment to and passion for working with vulnerable children
Ability to build respectful relationships with children
Experience working in SEND setting/ youth work/sports coaching/community work
The ability to manage confrontation and challenging behaviour
Able to work with learners with various learning difficulties e.g. ADHD or dyslexia
Flexibility in approach to educating and supporting children
Ideally team tech trained (opportunity to train with Randstad if not)
