job description

Do you want to gain experience within a school setting and work with some amazing pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN)?

Do you want to be a part of a positive learning environment and work with an experienced staff team who aim to help pupils achieve their best?

We are looking for a passionate and caring individual to work in a special school for young people aged 3 to 19 years in Bolton. The school is the biggest charity in the Bolton area and provides individually tailored education services for children with moderate-to-severe learning disabilities, Autistic Spectrum Conditions, significant physical impairment and/ or complex health needs. Many pupils will also have communication difficulties, multi-sensory impairment or present challenging behaviours.

The school's vision is 'brightening lives, building futures': their services are designed to achieve this vision and to improve the quality of life of all those they support, so that they may become confident and independent members of the community. They believe in 'ordinary life principles'; to provide people with the same social and learning opportunities as everyone else, so that all students can fulfil their individual potential.

The school uses personalised approaches built on respect, innovation and sustainability to respond to the changing needs of disabled people, dedicating their work to continuous improvement, striving to support more people and achieve outstanding status.

The school has specialist facilities that provide a spacious, calm and safe environment in which young people can thrive and learn. These include a sensory integration room, a multi-sensory lightroom, a hydrotherapy pool, a soft play area and a sports hall.

There are many benefits to this role, including:
*Working in a school rated 'good' by Ofsted
*Working for a school that has state of the art facilities
*Gaining valuable experience in the SEN sector
*The opportunity to work in a diverse role

The responsibilities of this role include:
*Supporting the teacher within the classroom
*Helping to create lesson plans with the teacher
*Working one to one or in small groups with pupils
*Helping with any of the pupils' additional care needs (e.g. feeding, toileting)

The requirements for this role are:
*A DBS on the update service
*Experience working with children or adults with additional care needs
*A dedication to creating a positive learning environment for pupils
*Reading, writing, numeracy and communication skills

The successful candidate will work in a calm, warm and friendly environment with an excellent staff team who will support you throughout your SEN career with them. The pupils in this school are eager to learn and you will enjoy supporting them through their education. If you are interested in the role and want to work for a fantastic school, contact Sophie on 0161 200 1904 or email at sophie.froggatt@randstadeducation.co.uk
