A leading, well established Special School in Bradford is looking to appoint a SEN Teaching Assistant in one of their PMLD classrooms on a supply basis. They are in need of a TA with a can-do attitude, who can get on with their work efficiently and happily. Due to the needs of the students their school caters for, they need to have back up staff members available as ad hoc supply should any of the permanent staff become unavailable. It is a lovely and welcoming setting, full of supportive staff and children with a desire to learn.

The successful applicant will have PMLD experience or experience working in a SEND school, as well as the motivation to work hard and work within the team to keep the children happy, safe and comfortable. Some of these children have severe and complex needs and medical requirements. Applicants to this position need to have a degree of resiliency and positive focus to ensure the high-quality care these children deserve. The role will involve assisting the class teacher with children with complex needs, supporting the students individually and in groups with core subjects, engaging with their work and keeping on task with their learning. The role requires aspects of personal care, supporting students with trips to the bathroom and supporting with life skills.

The role will include:
Providing assistance to the class teacher
Managing small groups of children independently
Working 1:1 with students to help develop their work
Supporting the general well-being of the students in the school
Monitoring and evaluating pupils learning under the guidance of the teacher
Assisting the teachers in the use of relevant management strategies to ensure a purposeful environment for teaching and learning to take place
Attending to the students' personal care needs

Experience of Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties
Moving and handling training
Past experience working in a Special Educational Needs and Disabilities School
A desire to encourage children to succeed
A caring, patient and calm personality
An ability to work with students with a variety of learning difficulties
An understanding of children with special needs
A flexible approach to education
