job description

Would you like to work in a busy and friendly school? Are you confident assisting pupils with complex special educational needs? Are you dedicated to helping each child be successful?

If you're nodding your head to these, this teaching assistant role may be perfect for you.

This position is for a permanent SEN teaching assistant in a prospering school. You'll be working with a range of pupils from ages 3-19 with severe, profound and complex learning needs. The school is fairly newly built, located in Bury St Edmund's and boasts fantastic outdoor grounds. The school encourages teaching and learning based upon SCERTS (Social Communication, Emotional Regulation and Transactional Support) that uses a therapeutic approach to teaching children to self-regulate themselves. This is a fantastic opportunity to tailor your teaching to a specific child's needs.

Benefits:
- Work with children who genuinely want to learn
- A supportive team of teachers and parents - Free intensive support training
- Top of the range resources
- Refer a friend to teach with Randstad and they'll receive £300 in shopping vouchers!

Your responsibilities:
- Effective communication with both pupils and staff - Work alongside pupils to develop alternative communication strategies to help reduce behaviours that restrict social interaction
- Have a hands on approach to teaching and be passionate about learning through play

What you'll need:
- Knowledge and understanding of complex social, emotional and behavioural needs
- Thorough understanding of safeguarding
- Have a DBS on the updated service (we can assist you with your application)
- The ability to build trusting relationships - Experience using hoists is not necessary but desirable

If this sounds like a great opportunity, don't hesitate to call 01223 368 836 or email hannah.elliott@randstadeducation.co.uk for immediate consideration.
