Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant

Do you aim to inspire and encourage students? Are you looking for a permanent role? Can you work effectively alongside the main teacher to produce fun lessons?
Then this is the role for you!
This specialised school is a non-maintained school designed to meet the educational, behavioural, care and therapeutic needs for children (age 5 - 25 years). The School specialise working with students who have a range of special educational needs including: Epilepsy.

This current vacancy is a combination of a teaching assistant and a support worker.
With your expertise and knowledge, you will liaise with the main teacher to support each individual to reach their goals for each lesson. You will also provide undivided care to support for each individual students needs.
Core lessons and extra curricular lessons including: Music therapy, outdoor recreational activities and several trips in the community will be provided daily. So .. you will never have the same day.

This role is an excellent and rewarding career in which you guide, support and comfort students who may find everyday tasks challenging. It would be advisable to have your own transport. However, there is public transport available including buses and trains within reach of the school.

Furthermore, Randstad are providing training for the first few weeks of your placement to boost your confidence in this role. In addition, essential training which is recommended by the school will also be included in the first part of your placement. This is a perfect opportunity for any candidate who is willing to learn new techniques and practice.

Your responsibilities will include:

Assist students during class making sure they are on track.
Liaise with class teacher to ensure a smooth running class.
Enabling learners to access the curriculum.
Support the pastoral needs of the learners.
Be an active part in setting the learning environment.
Supporting learners on a 1:1 base and part of a small group in a range of activities through out the day
Using your interests to engage learners in learning.

The ideal candidate may posses the following skills and capabilities:

Be able to work with learners that have various learning difficulties.
Have an understanding of the students with emotional needs.
Willingness to learn and build relationships with learners.
Be confident to support the lead in groups, in different educational subjects.
The ability to work as an individual and as a part of the team.
Be flexible in their approach to education.
