Salary Band: £12,000- £15,000

SEN Teaching Assistant

Then this role is for you!

This specialised SEN school is looking for a teaching assistant who is compassionate and enjoys working with SEN children. You would be joining a team whose aim is to provide the best educational, care and transition pathways for children and young people from ages 7 - 19 years who experience difficulties with learning and communication because of their special or complex educational, health or care needs.

Your role as an SEN teaching assistant will include:
 To provide teaching assistance to the teacher defined according to weekly/daily planning of the teacher
 To provide group and/or individual activities, planned by the teacher
 To work individually with learners/students to develop work.
 To support the general well being of learners within the structure of the school
 To monitor and evaluate learners' learning under the guidance of the teacher
 To assist teachers in the use of relevant management strategies to ensure a purposeful environment for teaching and learning to take place
 To support all learners in their planned structured work in all curriculum areas

The ideal candidate may posses the following skills and capabilities:

 Be able to work with learners that have various learning difficulties.
 Have an understanding of the students with emotional needs.
 Willingness to learn and build relationships with learners.
 Be confident to support the lead in groups, in different educational subjects.
 The ability to work as an individual and as a part of the team.
 Be flexible in their approach to education.

Your responsibilities will include:
* Preparing resources and equipment for pupils to fulfil tasks
* Tidying away and storing correctly the equipment and resources post-lesson
* Engaging with children of varying abilities which may include setting additional tasks/challenges for overachievers or supporting underachievers
* Helping to manage class behaviour
* Supporting group activities (including sports activities and school trips)
* Ensuring the safety and safeguarding of children
Key requirements for the position include:
* A clear and up-to-date enhanced DBS check (we can support you with your application)
* Experience of working with Special educational needs.
* GCSE Maths and English grades 9 - 4 (A* - C)
* A qualification in childcare or youth work is desirable but not essential
