Working with special needs students is a rewarding career in which you guide, support and comfort students who may find everyday tasks challenging. I am looking for a teaching assistant who has the compassion needed to perform this role at a specialised school in the Chiddingfold area.

This specialised school is designed to meet the educational, behavioural, care and therapeutic needs for children aged 6-19 years old. The students have a range of special needs including Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) and Autistic Spectrum Conditions (ASC). Thriving in their inclusive attitude towards education, this school is specifically looking for someone who can make a meaningful difference in the lives of their students.


Your responsibilities will include:
Assisting students during class time, making sure they are on track
Liaising with the class teacher to ensure smooth-running lessons
Enabling learners to access the curriculum
Supporting the pastoral needs of the students
Being an active part in setting the learning environment
Supporting learners on a 1:1 basis and as part of a small group, in a range of activities throughout the day
Using your interests to engage students in learning.


The ideal candidate may possess the following skills and capabilities:
The ability to work with learners that have various learning difficulties
An understanding of students with emotional needs
Willingness to learn and build relationships with learners
Confidence in facilitating group work in different educational subjects
The ability to work as an individual and as a part of the team
Flexibility in your approach to education.
