Working with special needs students is a rewarding career in which you guide, support and comfort students who may find everyday tasks challenging. I am looking for a teaching assistant who has the compassion needed to perform this role at a SEN school situated in the Guildford area.

This thriving specialised school is a designed to meet the educational, behavioural, care and therapeutic needs for children aged 6 - 19 years. The children have a range of special needs including ADHD and Autistic Spectrum Conditions (ASC) and require a committed individual who can make a positive difference to their education.

Your responsibilities will include:
* Encouraging students to become independent
* Providing teaching assistance according to weekly/daily/sessional planning of the teacher
* Delivering group and/or individual activities, planned by the teacher
* Working individually with students to develop their progression
* Supporting the general well being of learners within the structure of the school
* Monitoring and evaluating students' learning under the guidance of the teacher
* Assisting teachers in the use of relevant management strategies to ensure a purposeful environment for teaching and learning to take place
* Supporting all learners in all curriculum areas


The ideal candidate will possess the following:
* Own means of transport (essential)
* The ability to work with learners that have various learning difficulties
* An understanding of students with special needs
* Willingness to learn and build relationships with learners
* Confidence in supporting group work in different educational subjects
* The ability to work as an individual and as a part of the team
* Flexibility in their approach to education
* Experience working in SEND settings (desirable but not essential)
* Comfortable in work directly with students
