Exciting opportunity for a Freshwater and Terrestrial Senior Ecologist to join a well-established public and private sector team based in Birmingham!!!

A leading consultancy is seeking a Senior Ecologist with a mixture of terrestrial and freshwater aquatic ecology experience; they are particularly interested in someone with significant experience and interest in riparian mammals. You will join a growing project coordination team where you will be given the platform to showcase both your aquatic and terrestrial experience, through project management and report writing. The ability to process data and create and manage large datasets would be an advantage, as would experience of using GIS to manage sites and fieldwork.

You will have the opportunity to work on a wide variety of major schemes which would be a fantastic addition to your CV.

Responsibilities:



* Organising and carrying out desk- and field-based habitat and species surveys
* Co-ordination of field and office-based work
* Managing and mentoring of junior staff
* Development of monitoring strategies
* Provide specialist input to multi-disciplinary teams
* Writing and reviewing ecological assessments, reports and other deliverables
* Managing the technical and financial performance of ecological projects
* Liaising with clients, project managers and other project stakeholders including statutory bodies

Requirements:



* You will have a BSc in a relevant subject, and it would be advantageous to have a higher degree (MSc / PhD)
* Able to show evidence of ongoing vocational training
* Have experience of working in an ecology-related (aquatic and / or terrestrial) job role in the public and / or private sector
* Experience of designing, co-ordinating and leading field surveys, particularly for riparian mammals
* Have demonstrable experience in producing a range of reports and providing ecological advice to clients / stakeholders


* Ideally, you will be you will be eligible for or have full membership of CIEEM or another relevant professional body
