Senior Engineer- Interior Controls

Job Description

The Role:

Realisation of interior electrical switchgear and controls concept using a combination of new, modified-carryover components in conjunction with the Tier 1 suppliers.

Development and maintenance of the timing plan, system and validation requirements.

Guidance to EDS and Packaging teams to ensure that system parts are correctly located and packaged in accordance with installation and wiring requirements.

Manage compliance with any necessary legislative, environmental and EMC requirements.

Participation in, and co-ordination of system review, verification and validation activities including FMEAs, EMC and functionality tests throughout the development lifecycle.

Represent the Electrical Department in engineering meetings, financial reviews and project gateways.

Fault identification and resolution including management of issues to closure. Acting as an authority for concessions.

Supplier management and co-ordination including support for Procurement, Logistics and Quality throughout the project lifecycle.

Provision of support and training to Manufacturing and Service departments.

Qualifications and Experience (Essential & Desirable criteria):

Essential Criteria:

Electronics engineering, mechanical engineering, automotive engineering or similar honours degree with an overall grade 2:1 or higher. Other recognised engineering qualifications combined with relevant significant experience will be considered.

Demonstrate understanding of aspects of switchgear design (eg. materials, finishes, illumination, haptics, durability and package).

Proven track record of project engineering of interior controls/displays within an automotive/aerospace/home electronics/industrial electronics engineering environment.

Articulate, self-motivated and able to work well on own initiative.

Experience of system/component delivery within an APQP, six sigma or similar framework (FMEA, quality planning, PPAP etc).

Desirable Criteria:

An understanding of electrical architectures and underlying network and diagnostic technologies would be useful.

Other information:

Occasional travel to China and within the EU.
