About Our Client

A well established residential school supporting vulnerable young people ages 19-25 years old. They specialise in autism and autistic spectrum conditions, but more generally in a wide range of complex learning disabilities and emotional, behavioural and social difficulties.

Job Responsibilities:

- Staff will need to be aware and work in a proactive manner to ensure learners are supported effectively, feel secure and reduce anxieties.

- To support young people entering the service for the first time, moving between residential units or leaving the service, enabling them to prepare for the change, and to become familiar with the new environment and responding to any distress they may experience.

- Act as a key worker for young people; take responsibility for the development, implementation, monitoring and review of placement/support plans.

- Support residents in accessing appropriate leisure activities on site and off site.

- Work in conjunction with the Behaviour Support team & other relevant colleagues in the assessment, development, implementation and review of programmes aimed at enabling resident young people to manage their challenging behaviour including undertaking risk assessments

- Ensure that resident's care files are updated and accurate and maintained.

Preferred Skills:

- experience working with behaviour difficulties

- Experience working with children and young people in care

- attained any training that manages behaviour i.e. SSTS, MAYBO

Personal Attributes:

- Demonstrates a positive attitude toward mental health

- Demonstrates effective written and verbal communication skills

- Effective pro-active communication skills
