job description

Do you have the skillset to help young service users achieve their maximum potential? Perhaps you are a service user seeking a new full-time role?

I am recruiting for several full-time support worker vacancies in the Stockport area. The role will involve working with a specialist care provider who delivers education, care and respite for young people with learning disabilities.

The role will entail working in a new-purpose build residential facility which offers fantastic facilities in order to enhance the development of young service users. The site, of 90 acres, consists of a school, a sensory pool and playing fields. The facilities here are second to none and there is a wealth of dedicated professionals such as swimming teachers, sports coaches and a therapy team to help ensure the young people are given the freedom to express themselves. The organisation is a market leader within the care sector and as well as a stimulating environment to work, you will be offered extremely competitive rates of pay and a 4-week rolling rota, so you will know your shifts well in advance. The shifts tend to be a mixture of earlies and lates with some weekend work required.

Benefits of the role;

* Holiday Pay
* Career Development Opportunities
* Pension Scheme
* Free Online and In-house training
* Free Parking
* Rewarding Job Satisfaction

Role responsibilities will consist of;

* Supporting children with daily living skills... this can include anything from cooking, cleaning to decorating the home.
* Supporting children out into the local community. This can include everything from cinema trips, meals out and trips to the theme park.
* The young people often have communication difficulties and this can often lead to challenging behaviour. It will be your role to support the young person during these challenging times and ensuring you take the steps necessary to try to reduce such behaviours occurring again through implementing behavioural support plans etc.
* As with any other professional carer role, ensuring documentation is up to date and accurate is paramount. You will be required to create person centred plans with support from your line manager and update everything from daily summaries to risk assessments.

If you have experience supporting vulnerable young people that would be advantageous, however, if you have any experience working with children, in general, we would love to hear from you. This is a full time, permanent role within a market leading national care provider. What are you waiting for?!
