Role: SEN Teaching Assistant-Location:Hassocks- Salary Band: £12,000 - £15,000

Then this SEN teaching assistant role could be just right for you.

The school is near the Hassocks area which is easily accessible via public transport.
This specialised school is for learners of ages 11- 17, with additional social, emotional and mental health needs. The school aims to provide a safe, structured and stimulating environment that challenges learners and engages them positively in learning. Your role as teaching assistant is vital to the educational development of students.
This specialised school offers full-time educational opportunities for students who are at risk of permanent exclusion or have been permanently excluded, and re-engagement with learning is their approach.


The role of a teaching assistant would include the following:
 Assist students during class making sure they are on track.
 Liaise with class teacher to ensure a smooth running class.
 Supervision of children during their playtimes/lunch breaks.
 Enabling learners to access the curriculum.
 Support the pastoral needs of the learners.
 Be an active part in setting the learning environment.
 Supporting learners on a 1:1 base and part of a small group in a range of activities through out the day
 Using your interests to engage learners in learning.

The ideal candidate may posses the following skills and capabilities:

 Be able to work with learners that have various learning difficulties.
 Have an understanding of the students with emotional needs.
 Willingness to learn and build relationships with learners.
 Be confident to support the lead in groups, in different educational subjects.
 The ability to work as an individual and as a part of the team.
 Be flexible in their approach to education.
