Working with special needs students is a rewarding career in which you guide, support and comfort students who may find everyday tasks challenging. I am looking for a teaching assistant who has the compassion needed to perform this role.

A specialised school in Horsham is looking for a teaching assistant who can join their thriving school and make a difference to their students. Designed to meet the educational, behavioural, care and therapeutic needs for children aged 6-19 years, they promote a positive and supportive ethos: the students have a range of special needs including general learning disabilities and Autistic Spectrum Conditions (ASC).

Your role will require:
* Engaging with the learners to keep them on task
* Liaising with the teacher to ensure all learners are supported
* Assisting during break duty, outings and class activities
* Delivering 1:1 or small, group-focused lessons when required


The ideal candidate will:
* Provide teaching assistance to the teacher defined according to weekly/daily/sessional plans
* Provide group and/or individual activities, planned by the teacher
* Work individually with learners/students to develop their work
* Support the general well being of learners within the structure of the school
* Monitor and evaluate students' learning under the guidance of the teacher
* Assist teachers in the use of relevant management strategies to ensure a purposeful environment for teaching to take place
* Support all learners in their planned work across all curriculum areas
