job summary:

My client, a banking institution in Fairfield County, is in need of a Controller. The Controller works under the direction of the CFO. This is a full time and permanent opportunity.

Key Essential Responsibilities:

1. Manages the activities of the finance/accounting department to include training, scheduling, assigning duties, providing annual performance reviews, and staff mentoring. Works with the CFO to develop/enhance policies/procedures/processes, and internal controls, ensuring practices are in line with the overall goals of the organization.

2. Manages the short-term investment portfolio and monitors, adjusts the cash position to meet daily liquidity needs and federally mandated reserve requirements.

3. Manages the preparation of Credit Union financial statements, ensuring compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and regulations. Creates and prepares, where necessary, management and financial reports for the BOD and sub-committees.

4. Organizes the preparation and submission of various external reports.

5. Approves outgoing wire transfers and signs Credit Union checks as authorized.

6. Assists in the preparation of budgets and forecasts.

Essential Skills, Knowledge and Requirements:

1. Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance

2. Minimum of 5 years of supervisory experience within a credit union or bank

3. Thorough knowledge of applicable GAAP Accounting

4. Basic understanding of Asset Liability Management (ALM)

5. Proficient with Microsoft Office as well as Financial Systems software
