Engineering & Construction client involved in heavy industrial plant EPC plant projects is looking for a Lead Instrumentation & Controls Engineer to join their team in Houston. You need a BS degree in Engineering and 15-20 years of experience supporting EPC projects in the Oil & Gas, Chemical or Petrochemical industry. Client prefers local candidates but will provide relocation for the right candidate. *** compensation is commensurate with experience ***

Responsibilities for the I&C Engineer

  • Responsible for the design and development of instrumentation systems (80%) and control systems (20%) for gas or chemical process plants, including the specification of industrial instrumentation as well as the material to support installation
  • You will be responsible for all engineering phases from proposal, basic, detail, construction and commissioning
  • Develop and review instrumentation installation drawings, data sheets & specifications according to recognized industry standards & client specifications
  • Assist in the technical development of assigned project P&IDs
  • Generate instrument datasheet, RFQ and PO packages for Instruments and Control Systems for gas & chemical processing plants
  • Develop technical tabulation to support the selection of instrumentation and control systems
  • Assist in the development of project schedules and manpower requirements
  • Review and checking of technical vendor submittals for installation requirements
  • Prepare instrumentation calculations for control valves, flow orifices, and relief valves

Requirements for the I&C Engineer

  • 10-20 years of experience as an Instrument Engineer or I&C Engineer supporting large heavy industrial plant (gas, refinery, process plant, etc...) EPC projects with an EPC firm
  • You need experience selecting the appropriate type of I&C equipment for EPC projects in the chemical, petrochemical, or the oil & gas industry
  • You need to be able to perform instrumentation calculations (sizing & specifying) for control valves, flow orifices & relief valves as well as specifying metering & instrumentation devices
  • You need to be more skilled on instrumentation vs controls systems design engineering areas
  • Some experience out on the construction site performing loop checks is needed
  • BS or MS degree in Engineering is needed and a PE license a PLUS
  • Experience using Intergraph Smartplant software is a PLUS
  • You need a working knowledge of ISA Standards and International Codes
  • You should expect to travel to the field 10-20% of the time to the field
  • You need some experience with Intergraph InTools software is needed
