job summary:

Seeking a System Administrator/Analyst with a current or previous mainframe background to join our technical team of professionals at our customer site in Washington, DC.

You will serve as the Administrator of a federal reporting systems administered by our customer: This system collects critical data on child welfare programs nationwide.

You will be doing analysis/providing recommendations for improvement of the data received (80%) and file processing (20%). Since the information resides in various State database systems, the ideal candidate will have experience working with multiple databases (Oracle, SQL Server, DB2, Ababas, etc.).

responsibilities:

Key Responsibilities:

A solid background with C/C++ code is essential as you will read/interpret logic (there is no development).

Solid experience with SQL (any flavor), C, UNIX shell scripting, and MS Access is needed.

You will review code in Unix/Linux shell scripts and C programs, interpret programming logic (mostly in variations of SQL but may also include COBOL, NATURAL, SAS and SPSS), and document code and program logic.

You will not be doing development but should be able to determine if there are any concerns with the code and prepare a report for the client and maintain technical documentation.

Generate and send associated reports to States/Tribes and Children's Bureau users

You will provide technical assistance to the federal program specialists for AFCARS and directly to the states and tribes at the direction of the AFCARS program specialist.

Proficient in MS Office tools Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint

Good oral and written communication skills

Ability to work alone with minimal direction

Ability to change priorities quickly and frequently

 
qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree

8 years of experience working in an IT multi-platform environment using a variety of software tools, programming languages and databases

8 years of Business Analyst experience with requirements development, use case analysis and Quality assurance
