Provides leadership, technical support, team facilitation and training to one or more manufacturing operation functions. Works cross-functionally with other team leaders to establish and improve business and department processes necessary to continually move the organization towards our goals. Achieving excellence in outgoing quality, developing and maintaining a safe work environment, and delivering products on-time to our customers without quality problems are key performance metrics in this position. Planning, performance management, coaching and mentoring, coordinating, and managing departmental standards are primary daily responsibilities.

Develop and maintain scientific capacity & resource model for factory and implement predictive planning tools. Consistently achieve target lead times for standard and custom products and shorten where possible. Put a comprehensive and compelling strategy in place for the advancement of the machine shop and assembly group. Effectively manage multiple priorities and projects. Exhibit a strong level of professionalism with the ability to have open, honest conversations regarding performance expectations within all levels of the organization.

Responsibilities:
Take a leading role in the development of an enhanced manufacturing strategy.
Develop, communicate and support executable plans to team members.
Build and use capacity models that can be used to plan and manage factory workload and staffing requirements.
Improve the factory planning function so that work is level-loaded to the capacity/resources of work centers, with reasonable customer expedites/drop-ins possible
Supervise the day-to-day activities of the technical staff in the delivery of their job responsibilities. Plan and monitor work schedules to meet organizational requirements and ensure due dates are met. Interface with other teams as needed to meet schedules.
Communicate customer concerns (internal and external) as necessary on issues affecting product quality and delivery. Handle escalated customer complaints/queries.

Working hours: 6:00 AM - 3:00 PM

Skills:
Develop people, material, and information flows through value stream mapping, SMED, Lean, six-sigma, and continuous improvement activities. Plan and execute the training and development needs of staff and provide coaching and on-the-job training where required. Provide coaching to other employees to make process improvements and improve productivity.
Assist with the creation and maintenance of process and procedural documentation.
Develop visual controls for team performance metrics on safety, quality, productivity, and on-time delivery. Recommend measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product. Report monthly.
Develop and maintain department budgets. Identify and coordinate capital equipment and area equipment purchase. Monitor machines and equipment performance. Communicate and resolve maintenance issues.
Work with HR to develop talent management, succession and staffing strategies.
Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications:
Bachelor??s degree in related field
Degree in Engineering and/or an MBA
Experience in a Machine Shop/Machinist background
At least 10 years of management experience in Production Management in a manufacturing environment
Demonstrated experience in manufacturing operations, manufacturing engineering, continuous improvement, lean and six-sigma
Demonstrated attention to detail, commitment to learning and ability to solve problems in a timely manner
Ability to manage conflict, give feedback and exhibit objectivity and openness to others' views
Track record of building high-performing teams
