Contract position: Seeking a Project Controls SME for a long term contract opportunity. This person will provide guidance and support for all project control functions for 4 major turnaround projects.

Responsibilities for the Project Controls Manager

  • Assists in identifying industry best practices and tools. Ensure key P/C metrics are measured and reported, enabling continuous improvement and sustainability around this aspect of project controls management
  • Training, evaluating, and oversight - drive consistency in the development of Project Controls for Turnarounds
  • Engagement with Long Range Turnaround Portfolio and Turnaround Project Management, ensuring credibility and value through sound accounting principles
  • Ensures Turnaround establish a credible estimating and cost reporting structure using best practices based on scope, complexity, project development and execution, and would include: estimating, baselining, cost allowances and contingency analysis, cost productivity, progress tracking, deviations and corrective actions, evaluation of cost basis completeness, and Cost Class readiness reviews.
  • Identify P/C metrics, and implement roll out of metrics for reporting across all segments, in a systemic manner, helping and not overwhelming those responsible for reporting, and ensuring training with understanding
  • Lead estimate and cost reviews

Requirements for the Project Controls Manager

  • Cost certifications: ACEC or PMP preferred
  • 7+ years of turnaround estimating and cost tracking experience with a strong background in all aspects of Project Controls (TA, project, and FEL efforts including decision making and risk management), schedule development, schedule monitoring, progressing and tracking, reporting.
  • Previous experience working in the refining or petro-chemical industry
  • Project size experience, small and large efforts of planning and scheduling, <$5M to $100M
  • Ability and willingness to travel at least 50% of the time based on turnaround schedule and need
