job summary:

The Senior Payroll Accountant is responsible for preparing account analysis, accounting entries, and payroll reports for corporate and field. The Senior Payroll Accountant will ensure information is accurately and properly reflected in the organization's financial accounting system on a timely basis. The Senior Payroll Accountant will work with the Payroll Department and be responsible for processing bi-weekly payrolls and preparing daily, weekly, and bi-weekly federal and state tax liability calculations

responsibilities:

Responsibilities Include:

  • Overseeing monthly close process specific to payroll accounting
  • Master the payroll and benefit accounting end-to-end process
  • Prepare, review and post payroll related journal entries, including payroll uploads
  • Monthly income statement fluctuation analysis
  • Ensures garnishment orders are properly handled.
  • Enters, verifies, and maintains payroll information for field locations
  • Complete balance sheet reconciliations related to payroll as well as review and approve all payroll related balance sheet reconciliations
  • Perform detail accounting analysis & process related journal entries for payroll & benefit accounts
  • Analyze and resolve payroll accounting issues
  • Analyze payroll/benefit account status and calculate and true up balances as required
  • Perform monthly payroll reporting & reconciliations
  • Provide inputs and analysis for monthly forecast as required
  • Prepare quarter-end federal and state tax filing and reconciles quarter-end tax liabilities
  • Maintains tax systems governing payroll tax compliance and withholdings on a local, state, and federal basis
  • Ensures deduction codes are properly entered for local taxes
 
qualifications:

Requirements

  • BBA in Accounting/Finance
  • 5 years plus Payroll Accounting experience
  • Thorough knowledge of accounting principles, concepts, and practices
  • Computer/technology skills and proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and Ceridian
  • Excellent communication (oral and written) and listening skills
  • Attention to detail is a must
  • Strong financial management and analysis skills
