Senior Property Accountant

Job Summary

The Senior Property Accountant is responsible for the day to day accounting functions of the firm's real estate assets. This position reports directly to the Controller and is open due to extensive growth of the organization's Commercial Property Portfolio.

Job Responsibilities

  • Responsible for all month-end close entries for multiple commercial properties
  • Review all general ledger entries for proper expense coding
  • Process all common area reconciliations (CAM) on a quarterly and annual basis
  • Research and answer all tenant question regarding reconciliations and expenses
  • Prepare annual CAM estimates for tenants
  • Process all move out papers, final reconciliations, and security deposit refunds/ forfeits
  • Prepare annual budgets for assigned commercial properties
  • Prepare income and expense budgets on an annual basis
  • Record monthly expenses to the general ledger to reconcile with 3rd party management companies
  • Track all expenses for corporate relocation department & prepare associated financial reports monthly
  • Reconcile tenant improvement payments/refunds as needed
  • Invoice utilities costs to all tenants
  • Enter, distribute and correct all monthly property CAM invoices
  • Enter, distribute and correct all tenant time and material invoices received from
  • Record tenant payments/apply open credits
  • Requisition mortgage companies for escrow refunds/construction draws as needed
  • Perform any other tasks requested by superiors

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting required
  • 3+ years of accounting experience, preferably in a real estate or construction environment
  • Experience with CAM (Common Area Maintenance) reconciliations highly desired
  • Prior large ERP experience a plus
