job summary:

Can sit in San Diego or San Jose

The User Experience Designer is responsible for all stages of UX design for new Smart Communities products and features, and must think strategically while executing with great attention to detail. Successfully collaborates with product managers, software engineers, and other designers to develop intuitive and user-friendly designs for new enterprise software applications, and provide creative solutions for adding new features and new design conventions to existing products. Has a solid understanding of human factors, user-centered design principles, and customer-first product development process. Has excellent visual design skills, great technical know-how, ability to work with HTML and CSS, and proven expertise in designing complex applications for enterprise and technical users. Develops high level and detailed task and data flows, wireframes, clickable prototypes, and pixel perfect visuals to effectively deliver and communicate new product and feature designs. Interprets written requirements, conducts iterative reviews with cross-functional stakeholder teams, and incorporates results of usability testing to achieve consensus and acceptance of designs.

Develop high-level and detailed task and data flows, wireframes, clickable prototypes, pixel-perfect visuals, and design elements to effectively deliver and communicate interaction and functional design. Interpret written requirements, conduct reviews with cross-functional teams, and iterate on all design products to achieve consensus and acceptance.

 
qualifications:

MUST HAVE SKILLS:

- 7+ years of experience designing world-class, complex applications for enterprise and technical users

- Strong portfolio of web application and mobile applet design work

- Knowledge of desktop and mobile design standards

- Knowledge of current user experience design trends and best practices

- Excellent visual design skills in visual orientation, composition, typography, layout, and color usage

- Proficiency with leading design tools, such as Sketch and the Adobe Creative Suite

- Excellent communication skills with a proven ability to present and evangelize designs to cross-functional teams

- Ability to work with tight timelines, deliver designs on schedule, and juggle multiple projects

DESIRED SKILLS:

- Experience working in Agile environment

- Previous experience with traffic, parking, lighting, or public safety applications would be a plus

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS:

Bachelors degree, masters degree, or equivalent experience in Human Factors, User Experience Design, or Graphic Design
