Randstad Holding nv announces the acquisition of twago, Europe’s leading freelance marketplace with more than 500,000 registered workers. Twago’s platform will enable Randstad and its Randstad Sourceright organization to accelerate clients’ freelance talent strategies and provide a more holistic and integrated way to manage the total workforce.

As a growing portion of the global workforce, freelance workers have become increasingly important to many organizations’ talent management strategies. Experts estimate that online platforms for freelance and contingent workforce will grow by more than 40% a year for the coming 5 years.

“With twago’s platform and reach, we can provide clients with enhanced access to freelancers”,  says Chris Heutink, Randstad Executive Board member. “The twago architecture can be easily adapted to create client-branded freelance recruitment platforms seamlessly integrated with our Professionals activities like Yacht (NL) or Expectra (FR) or the clients’ existing vendor management system. As a result, employers will be able to source talent more quickly and cost-effectively. It will also lead to a much better management of freelancers.”

Randstad CEO Jacques van den Broek adds: “The acquisition of twago follows our success with RiseSmart, the first step towards offering new services through digital transformation. The addition of technology and business models that enrich our value proposition to clients and candidates is part of our ‘tech & touch’-strategy.”

Founded in 2009, twago is the leading platform for freelancers’ talent in Europe. The company received an investment from Randstad Innovation Fund in July 2014. Over the last few years, twago has invested in its underlying capabilities to provide a platform where freelancers can bid on projects in a fast, compliant and easy way. twago has become a mobile and trusted global exchange for employers and freelance workers.
