About the Role
The Parliamentary, Ministerial and FOI Branch manages the relationship between the Agency and the Minister’s Office. It supports the Agency in meeting the Minister’s objectives and priorities by providing timely, objective and strategic advice. The branch ensures the Agency are meeting their obligations under the Freedom of Information Act 1982 (FOI Act).
The APS6 Governance, Outreach and FOI Delegate will assist the team in undertaking FOI internal reviews, Information Commissioner (IC) reviews, the creation of governance documents and the provision of outreach to increase the understanding of the Agency about FOI. The role will assist in ensuring the Agency meets its legal obligations in relation to the Freedom of Information Act 1982 (Cth) (FOI Act).
... Responsibilities
- Being a key FOI delegate responsible for FOI internal reviews and IC reviews, processing complex and sensitive FOI matters, ensuring they are created, processed, recorded and closed correctly on all databases in accordance with the FOI Act.
- Reviewing, amending or developing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and policies, template documents and other governance documents to assist with consistent decision making within the team in consultation with other FOI delegates.
- Coordinating and providing training in FOI within the team as well as providing outreach and training within the Agency to increase business area understanding about their responsibilities in relation to the processing of FOIs.
- Preparing and contributing to a range of other material including briefing material for Ministers, Board papers, media releases, reports to Parliamentary committees, and correspondence.
