Role Overview: As a Food Technology Teacher, you will deliver engaging and innovative lessons that ignite a passion for food and nutrition. You will be responsible for planning and delivering high-quality lessons that cater to the needs of all students, ensuring they develop practical skills and theoretical knowledge in food technology.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver dynamic lessons in food technology, incorporating practical cooking activities and theoretical learning.
- Create a positive and inclusive learning environment where all students feel valued and supported.
- Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback to support their development.
- Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement engaging schemes of work that meet curriculum requirements.
- Support students to develop practical cooking skills, knowledge of nutrition, and an understanding of food safety and hygiene.
- Organise and oversee practical cooking sessions, ensuring all equipment and ingredients are prepared in advance.
- Monitor and evaluate student progress, identifying areas for improvement and implementing strategies to support their learning.
- Maintain accurate records of student achievement and progress, and communicate with parents and carers as required.
Requirements:
- A relevant degree in Food Technology or a related subject.
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
- Experience teaching food technology at a secondary level.
- Excellent subject knowledge and a passion for food and nutrition.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to promoting the welfare and safeguarding of children and young people.
