Purpose: The Government Affairs Director will be responsible for developing and implementing our government affairs strategy in Japan. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of healthcare policy and regulations in Japan, and be able to effectively advocate for the company's interests with government officials and policymakers.Responsibilities:•Develop and execute a comprehensive government affairs strategy that aligns with our business objectives in Japan•Monitor legislative and regulatory developments in Japan that could impact operations, gather information on policies, and develop action plans cross-functionally with brand teams•Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including government officials, industry associations, patient groups, and advocacy organizations in Japan•Develop and execute plans to build strategic relationships with government officials and policymakers including members of the Diet, MHLW officials, and US government officials, etc.•Represent the company in meetings with government officials and policymakers to advocate for policies that support the company's business objectives•Work closely with internal stakeholders, including legal, regulatory, and public affairs teams, to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations in Japan•Develop and manage the government affairs budget for Japan, and ensure that resources are allocated effectively•Stay up-to-date on emerging healthcare policy trends and developments in Japan, and provide strategic advice to senior leadership team
求められる経験
•At least 5-10 years of experience in government affairs, with a focus on healthcare policy and regulations
•Strong understanding of the legislative and regulatory process with regards to healthcare
•General understanding of the pharmaceutical business (development, approval, post-launch)
•Proven track record of successfully advocating for policy changes that support business objectives
•Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders
•Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills, with the ability to develop and implement complex government affairs strategies in Japan
•Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, and manage multiple projects simultaneously
•Experience in government preferred
•Experience in industry managing a team of one or more government affairs professionals preferred
•Bachelor's degree (political science, public policy, healthcare or a related field of study preferred)
•Advanced degree in relevant area preferred
•Fluent Japanese and business-level English are required
