Position Overview: We are seeking a talented and experienced Quantity Surveyor to join our team and play a key role in managing costs and budgets for our residential construction projects in West Yorkshire. The successful candidate will work closely with project teams to ensure the commercial success of our developments while maintaining the highest standards of quality and value for money.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and manage cost estimates, budgets, and cash flow forecasts for residential construction projects.
- Procure subcontractor and supplier packages, negotiate contracts, and manage ongoing commercial relationships.
- Monitor and control project costs throughout the construction process, identifying potential cost overruns and implementing cost-saving measures.
- Prepare and submit valuations, variations, and final accounts in accordance with contractual requirements.
- Review and assess subcontractor applications for payment and issue payment certificates in a timely manner.
- Liaise with project teams, including site managers, engineers, and architects, to provide commercial support and advice.
- Manage and resolve commercial disputes and claims in collaboration with the project team and legal advisors.
- Maintain accurate records of all financial transactions and documentation related to the projects.
Requirements:
- Degree or equivalent qualification in Quantity Surveying or a related field.
- Proven experience working as a Quantity Surveyor within the residential construction industry, preferably with a house builder or developer.
- Strong knowledge of construction contracts, procurement methods, and cost control techniques.
- Excellent numerical and analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and financial information.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other relevant software applications.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
